Choosing by Program

Composition Decisions

100% Cotton

Natural hand-feel and breathability; needs controlled pre-shrinking and correct care labeling. Combed yarn upgrades surface quality.

Cotton-majority CVC

Cotton feel with reduced shrink and easier care; a common corporate uniform compromise.

Polyester / TC

Wicking, fast drying and durable under frequent wash; the performance and fieldwork default.

Stretch blends

Small spandex content for active blocks and fitted women’s styles.

Certified yarns

Organic cotton or recycled polyester with certificate chain where the market requires it.

Color control

Lab dips to Pantone/physical standards; bulk shade approved before cutting.

Compare the two classic structures: pique vs jersey polo shirts.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to what apparel buyers ask before requesting a quotation.

Which fabric is best for premium retail polo shirts?
Most premium retail programs use a heavier combed-cotton double pique with a structured collar. Exact GSM and yarn (combed vs carded, ring vs compact) are chosen against your price position at sampling — see the fabric buyer guide.
What is the difference between CVC and TC blends?
CVC (Chief Value Cotton) contains more cotton than polyester and feels more natural; TC (Tetoron/Cotton) is polyester-majority and behaves more like synthetic performance fabric. Both reduce shrinkage and ironing versus 100% cotton.
Can you supply organic or recycled fabric?
Yes where specified with the required certification chain (for example GOTS or GRS transaction certificates). These programs need extra lead time and MOQ; state the standard at RFQ so sourcing is quoted correctly.
Do we approve fabric before bulk?
Always: lab dips for color, a fabric swatch / hand-feel approval and, for brand-critical orders, bulk-fabric sign-off before cutting.

Not sure which fabric fits your market?

Describe the price band, climate and wash conditions — we will recommend structure and GSM and send swatches with samples.
